Review - Office Politics
Published on Monday, January 04 2010
The title of this Xbox indie game is what initially peaked my interest. Dealing with office politics is something that many people can relate to. Office Politics, developed by horizonfire, has fairly simple gameplay and a good sense of humor. You control a female character, Jennifer, who has just been hired as a temp for small company. You are are given simple assignments like making copies, copying org charts and sending memos. Jennifer meets several co-workers on her first day and they have some issues. The game has a wonderful sense of humor and is quite topical. Your company's ownership changes and that brings about adversity for some and accolades for others. Overall your main objective is somewhat sim-like. You are responsible for keeping Jennifer's stress level down. The stress level directly relates to four other meters within the game that show her thirst, hunger, rest and bathroom break statuses. Other decisions you make can also affect her stress. Be wary where you park and finish your work. If her stress meter reaches its' apex she quits her job and you must restart the working day. The humor is there but for 80 MS points I was not expected a game equivalent of The Office tv show. All things considered, this is worth a purchase or at the very least a trial download.
