Review Rewind will be a feature where I go back to older games and review them. This can serve two purposes: one, this might make you find a game for cheap that you've previously passed up. And two, I finally have an excuse to go back and play all the games in my library I haven't even touched yet. Anyway, onto the review!

Prototype came out in June, 2009, so it's not a huge leap backward in time, but I didn't have much of a chance to play it until recently. It's a third-person, action sandbox  game set on Manhattan island in New York City. Granted, it's not a true one-to-one recreation of the entire island, but Radical Entertainment did a good job in grabbing the big, important parts of the city and even the street layout for the most part. I can tell because I've never been there, but I've looked on Google Maps! *grin*

You play as Alex Mercer. Starting out, you're dead on a slab, about to be dissected. Suddenly, you awaken and escape from the building, Gentek headquarters, only to find yourself being pursued by armed guards. Your body starts changing. You're suddenly able to jump unnaturally high and escape from the guards. Oh, and you have almost none of your memories.

I have never been able to really get into MMO’s. My wife and I (Next Jen) have tried many MMO’s Star Wars Galaxies, City of Heroes, and Everquest 2 to just name a few. None of these have ever made me need to play them. Some of you are probably screaming at me “Well you should try out WOW.” You would be correct. Although my philosophy is why get addicted to crystal meth if I see what it does to peoples lives. So I have avoided WOW like a plague even though I know I would like it.

Heavy Rain is like no other video game, mostly because it's not a traditional video game. Heavy Rain is a sort of choose your own adventure where you guide the characters along a myriad of potential paths.

Bioshock was perhaps one of the most interesting first-person shooters I remember playing in recent times. It had an intriguing setting, a plot that had an interesting method of presentation, and a unique first-person shooter experience.

Bioshock 2 has not tread very far from its roots. Though it takes place in different parts of the underwater city of Rapture, and all the same elements are there, the game has a very different feel.

The story of Army of Two: The 40th Day is almost non existent. The game's story consists of there are bad guys… shoot them. That is just about the plot to The 40th Day, until the last mission or two when the developers attempt to throw a story line together. When The 40th Day begins Salem and Rios have are hanging out in Shanghai, doing their mercenary thing, when all of a sudden planes start crashing and buildings start falling over.

The title of this Xbox indie game is what initially peaked my interest. Dealing with office politics is something that many people can relate to. Office Politics, developed by horizonfire, has fairly simple gameplay and a good sense of humor. You control a female character, Jennifer, who has just been hired as a temp for small company. You are are given simple assignments like making copies, copying org charts and sending memos. Jennifer meets several co-workers on her first day and they have some issues. The game has a wonderful sense of humor and is quite topical. Your company's ownership changes...

    Review - Torchlight (Runic Games)

What to say about Torchlight? An interesting endeavor to be seen in today's day and age where the standard usually is "Multiplayer or bust".  Instead, Runic Games invites us to comb their randomized dungeons for adventure, daring-do's, and sweet, sweet loot...by ourselves. That's right, you'll not find an ounce of multiplayer in this game. At first, I was taken aback, as I'm sure the rest of the gaming community at large was as well. But now, having had my hands on it for a sufficient length of time, I too have been charmed.

To Celebrate the new year right I was lucky enough to be able to play the newest Indie Game "Creed Arena" on the Xbox Live Arcade. The games basic premise is that you are a gladiator; There are creatures and other people that want to kill you. It's a basic premise that every single game, big or small, usually follows to some extent. The entire game revolves around fighting in arenas through a regular deathmatch or capturing kegs. So with this basic scheme that has been done before is it really worth it?
