Blood Bowl Preview
Published on Friday, January 22 2010
Blood Bowl plays in two different ways. A turn-based "hotseat" of sorts as well as an RTS mode. The differences between those are rather obvious just by the names. Your goal is to get points by making, what else, touch downs. How you get there is up to you and what team you choose. Each team has its own strengths and as always weaknesses. A few examples; Humans aren't awful at anything, but they don't actually exceed in anything either. Then we have orcs and dwarfs who are a little slower while moving. Elves are faster, and goblins just aren't good at anything but they cheat a lot. The point being each team has something that pushes them to have an advantage but something that evens the playing field for the other side.
The allows you to hold onto a rather 'nifty' customization feature including team logos, colors, etc. My personal favorite is the different armor you need to purchase if you are planning on keeping ahead of your enemies. Each level of armor that you go up the more, well, badass your team looks. Helmets will protect your player from dieing, shoes will help them with speed, gloves with catching the ball, and shoulder pads with your WoW fact-er....i mean(Ha! I made a WoW joke!) doing damage against other teams. There isn't quit a whole lot to poke about this game. It has been out for a decent amount of time and is being released for the Xbox360 in the US on the 26th of this month. If you have played the board game and liked it I would give this a shot. Even then if you like tactical games it's still something you may want to give a shot. |
