The original Bioshock was easily one of the best games that graced 2007. When it was over, it was over. The ending didn't appear to truly leave a sequel available to produce. Even then, it didn't appear to need one. Sequel installments are for games that allow it or have flaws that can be fixed in another game. With Bioshock not having many of them, it goes back to making you wonder, how a sequel would even work?
Of course, a sequel came and to be honest it made and, for the most part, still makes a lot of people feel uneasy. But that's to be expected considering the changes as well as new features Bioshock 2 is bringing.
Bioshock 2 has one major mechanic different from the original. You are playing as a Big Daddy; The original Big Daddy. This tale takes place 10 years after the original. Rapture a re-awoken following the events of the first story. As a Big Daddy, you've been revived to find out what exactly is going on in the undersea fallen utopia, Rapture. A mysterious new figure called "Big Sister" has appeared, bringing with her a world of trouble. What's she doing with Rapture? All will be revealed in due time.
Story aside, playing as a Big Daddy leaves some rather creative ideas to be played with. Instead of irritatingly switching weapons, you now will have access to two at once; A Plasmid and Drill/Gun. Along the way, the drill can be substituted with different guns, such as infamous"Rivet Gun" carried by some Big Daddies in the original. But lets be honest with each other here, why would you neglect what we've all secretly wanted to use since we first saw a Big Daddy strolling along?

Along with the newest player-character, the addition of multiplayer leaves quite an interesting concept in its wake. The new multiplayer experience operates as a type of prequel, where you are fighting in the civil war that led to the fall of Rapture in the first place. The company manufacturing the Plasmids sponsors you to test their weapons, plasmids etc. in a reward program. The system is rather basic in its selection of game-types including deathmatches, free for alls, capture the flag-ish games (Little Sister as Flag) as well as a few other modes tossed in. The ability to play as a big daddy will also be available in multiplayer for no reason other than to add a spin on things.
Bioshock 2 is just looking wonderful with better graphics than before, the same decaying Rapture, new locations we didn't get to traverse the first time, and even multiplayer that has a decent story behind it. It's easy to get a little upset when hearing about a sequel to Bioshock, but it really does seem to be turning into well thought out game.
