Red Steel 2 Publisher: Ubisoft Developer : Ubisoft Paris Platform: Wii Release: March 23, 2010(EU 26th) Genre: Single player FPS The launch hype around the Wii back in 2006 was quite strong. But not strong enough for me to have purchased Ubisoft’s first FPS attempt, Red Steel, at full price. Eventually it did go on sale and I acquired it. Did it control well? No. Did it look great? No. Was it kind of fun? Yes. Red Steel also had dizziness and vertigo inducing multiplayer. Needless to say, it was not good. It checked the boxes but left many FPS fans unfulfilled. Ubisoft has returned 3.5 years...
Bloodbowl is the board game spin-off of American Football mixed together with Fantasy characters much like found in Warhammer. Easily summed up as a Tactical Sports game it mixes things up from the usual 'move units here' or 'throw the ball and see what happens' tactic both games usually have. Your characters will get hurt, and your players may also die; either way if you set your team up correctly you have nothing to worry about.
Back in 1992 the racing genre was introduced to what would become one of it's strongest pillars(sub-genre), the kart racer. A plucky plumber, his girlfriend, his brother, a green dinosaur and a host of others drifted all over the SNES and became one of its most popular titles. Since then the kart racer has been a must for console and handheld gamers alike. Unfortunately no other kart racer has been able to capture the quaility or attention to detail like the series that started it all. There have been countless mario kart clones spanning almost every dedicated gaming console, handheld or even cellphone...
And like clockwork, The Pokemon Company is releasing another installment on the Pokemon money train. Since the series origin in 1996 (and its debut in the US in 1998), the franchise has gone on to release 9 main installments with countless off-shoots and merchandise deals. This newest release, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver is a creation in the vein of the earlier titles FireRed and LeafGreen which were remakes of original Red and Blue installments. HeartGold and SoulSilver are, as you would expect, revamps of the original Gold and Silver editions. What they bring to the table is a graphical upgrade to Diamond and Pearl quality as well as a few minor tweaks and some novel touches here and there.
Release Date: January 26, 2010 Platform: Wii Publisher: Ubisoft Developer: Grasshopper Manufacture ESRB rating: M Genre: Third-Person action Suda 51 released his oddball otaku-controlled opus in the US in early 2008. Heavy Rain has been worked on since 2006 and it has come a long way since then. It is developed by the same people who brought the thriller game, Indigo Prophecy (also known as Fahrenheit). It plays almost as the same as their first title, as in you’re playing an interactive movie.
The original Bioshock was easily one of the best games that graced 2007. When it was over, it was over. The ending didn't appear to truly leave a sequel available to produce. Even then, it didn't appear to need one. Sequel installments are for games that allow it or have flaws that can be fixed in another game. With Bioshock not having many of them, it goes back to making you wonder, how a sequel would even work?
I went into playing Dante’s Inferno not really knowing what to expect. All the buzz I heard was from the past E3, where a bunch of crazy religious nuts decided to protest the game. Honestly not the best public relations decision on EA's part that I've seen, but there have been worse, but I digress. I got a chance to sit down and run through the demo and I must say it is quite a fun title.
The game's primary protagonist, Dante is depicted as a knight of the third Crusade, who has a red tapestry detailing the events of his life sewn into his chest. Dante is shown stitching the bloody tapestry into his chest while stuck in a "dark forest" and screams in pain as the final stitch is finished. The fabric suddenly begins to show flashbacks of his life prior to the game's story. In the first flashback, Dante and his fellow knights are ordered by King Richard to capture the city of Acre and secure an artifact by Saladin. During the raid on the Citadel of Acre, Dante is attacked by an assassin and left for dead. As soon as he is about to die, Death appears to inform Dante that he is to suffer "eternal damnation for his sins." and that those around Dante's life will also be punished. Horrified by the realization of the bishop's deception in calling their crusade being "holy," Dante decides to redeem himself.
It’s been over two years since the release of Mass Effect and many gamers are eagerly counting down the days for the second installment to be released. Once again you take the role of Commander Shepard who is on a mission to recruit people and aliens alike to aide him in discovering what the Collectors, an insect-like alien race, is up to. Along the way, you meet up with two Cerberus agents, Miranda Lawson (voiced by Yvonne Strahovski of Chuck) and Jacob Taylor (voiced by Adam Lazarre-White) and the mysterious Illusive Man (voiced by Martin Sheen). You will also be able to recruit members of your party from the original Mass Effect, like Tali (voiced by Liz Sroka) and GarrusVakarian (voiced by Brandon Keener).
