For months, Microsoft swore up and down that the 250 GB hard drive they included in Xbox 360 special edition bundles would not be available any other way. That seems to have changed. Today, Microsoft has announced the standalone 250 GB box 360 hard drive is available in stores for $129.99. Included are the data transfer cable and the disc that performs the transfer.

By releasing the new, larger hard drive at the 120 GB hard drive's price, this may signal the end of the 120 GB hard drive. Its price has been dropped to around $100.

We'll see what this means for the 120 GB drive, and the Xbox 360 Elite consoles in the future.
