Lots of Rock Band Announcements
Published on Thursday, March 11 2010

Harmonix has been very busy recently. In addition to their latest weekly release, Green Day: Rock Band gets a release date and details, and Rock Band 3 has been officially announced. Read on for details.

Harmonix has been releasing new music every week since Rock Band came out in November, 2008. So it comes as no surprise they've announced next week's release. What is a surprise is who they're releasing: Lady Gaga.

The pop artist will have a four-track DLC pack available including Bad Romance, Just Dance, Monster, and Poker Face. An even bigger surprise is that in addition to the Lady Gaga pack, the made-famous Eric Cartman version of Poker Face from the South Park season 13 episode, Whale Whores will be released as a single.

Green Day: Rock Band will be released for Playstation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 on June 8, and will include 47 Green Day tracks. It will feature the three-part harmony vocals that originated in The Beatles Rock Band and will add the capability to the six Green Day DLC tracks already released.

The game will retail for the standard $59.99 for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 and $49.99 for Wii. There will also be a Green Day: Rock Band Plus released for PS3 and 360 for $10 more. It will include the six DLC songs and an export voucher so you can play all that Green Day in the prior Rock Band games.

Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman has announced that Rock Band 3 is on its way, aiming for a Holiay 2010 release.

The Rock Band Facebook page notes that the game will be distributed by Electronic Arts, laying to rest the thought that Viacom might look for a different distributor once their contract with EA expires after the announcement that EA Partners would be scaled down.
