The Quest to Remake FFVII
Published on Friday, March 19 2010

It seems almost forever now that gamers have been asking for a remake to the 1997 PsX's classic, Final Fantasy VII. An even more so demand emerged with the release of the FFVII tech demo in 2006. I've noticed over the past few months, that the rumor mill for a remake has been busy with speculation. Now we have the director of Final Fantasy XIII stating that if he could remake a game, which one would it be. You guessed it.

The recent hype into a FFVII remake started with a design director from FFVII saying that he would like to see a remake of said game. Fans started to get excited. Just as soon as the good news came in, Yoshinori Kitase, who is the FFVII game director stated that doing a remake of FFVII would take too long and too much money and for the fans to get the idea out of their heads.

Even if it's just words, fans are getting excited again by Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama saying, "If we had the manpower and the time to work on a project, if we were to remake Final Fantasy VII with the quality of Final Fantasy XIII it would become a tremendous project," Toriyama continued. "If we can get the number of people we need by all means that would be the one I would really want to remake."

Perhaps one day we will see a remake to FFVII. A remake that will hopefully take nothing away from the original game play, characters and story. Or this could end up another failed project and something that will forever be in the minds of the fans.
