Major League Gaming and Electronic Arts have just announced that they plan on integrating online tournaments across several of their games that are coming out in 2010.

EA will create new online lobbies for those who wish to participate in a MLG tournament and also a ranking system that will count losses, wins and other stats. It is still unknown if these stats will be viewed over XBL or over a website or perhaps both.

"Online competition and knowing where you stand is what video gaming is all about," said Matthew Bromberg, president and CEO of Major League Gaming. "Together with EA SPORTS, we are creating the ultimate competitive social experience for millions of online EA SPORTS gamers in North America."

Perhaps this might lead to other game companies to follow suite and more gamers to test their skills.
