LucasArts Announces Monkey Island 2 SE
Published on Thursday, March 11 2010

One year after LucasArts brought The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition to XBLA, they have announced an updated version of the second Monkey Island game, Lechuck's Revenge.

Pirate wannabe Guybrush Threepwood is once again in action, solving puzzles and treasure hunting in full adventure game form. The second Monkey Island special edition will have similar upgrades as the last one. Full HD graphics, a more intricate hint system and a re-done soundtrack. Perhaps the biggest update is that players are now allowed to directly control Guybrush. So if you find the point and click control scheme tedious, this is the way to go.

Monkey Island 2 will also allow players to switch between the old version and the new one, similiar to the last game. Voice acting will be featured in both versions, and in keeping with tradition, LucasArts is using all the same voice actors from the original. As for extras, there will be an in-game running commentary with the creators that can be turned on and an in-game art viewer that will show off original and new concept art.

Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge will be available for download this summer on Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, PC and iPhone. For those with only PSN wondering how to play the first game before diving into the sequel, LucasArts also announced the original Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition is coming to the Playstation Store in a few weeks.
