Final Fantasy XIII is Fastest-Selling Title in the Franchise

Square Enix announced today that Final Fantasy XIII has the largest first-week sales in the history of the franchise

The juggernaut series has continued it's usual trend of selling extremely well. Square Enix stated today that the game has already sold over one million copies in North America alone. This was a week after they revealed the game had surpassed five million copies shipped (not sold though). Since the series first arrival over 20 years ago, it has gone on to sell 96 million units worldwide. It ranks right up with the prominent Nintendo bestsellers.

Square Enix did not clarify which system has sold more units, however the guess is that it would be the Playstation 3. This is considering the fact that many gamers have reported seeing the PS3 version sold out in stores across the country, yet copies of the Xbox 360 version were readily available in most cases.
